Sumter man charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor

A Sumter man has been arrested on charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, officials say.

Donald Brunson, 74, was arrested Wednesday in connection to an incident that occurred last year, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Braden Bunch said in a statement released Wednesday.

Sometime between June and July of 2014, Brunson touched the genital area of an 11-year-old girl while she was visiting Brunson’s home in the 3000 block of Tearcoat Road in Sumter County, an arrest warrant alleges.

Brunson was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 3rd degree, Bunch said.

Brunson was being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center on Wednesday.
