Aiken County man charged with attempted murder after Lexington County shooting

An Aiken County man has been charged with attempted murder after he shot an employee at a Lexington County business Thursday, the sheriff’s office said.

Howard Fogle Jr., 73, of Wagener, faces an attempted murder charge and possession of a weapon during a violent crime charge.

Fogle went to a business on Pond Branch Road to ask about the turnaround time for a job the business was handling for him, Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a statement.

“After some back and forth between Fogle and an employee, he pulled a pistol and fired at the employee,” Koon said.

The employee suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but is expected to recover.

Koon said the shooting was captured on a security camera and the business had a service agreement with Fogle.

Fogle, who drove away from the business after the shooting, was taken into custody at his Wagener home, Koon said.

Fogle is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
