Lexington SC deputies arrest man accused of attempted murder after stabbing

A man accused of attempted murder after stabbing another man was taken into custody, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Jesse Waylon Jones, 38, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Lexington deputies said in a news release. Jones’ charges stem from an incident on Thursday, where authorities say Jones stabbed a man twice in the upper body at a Batesburg home.

“Detectives who responded to the scene of the stabbing at the 100 block of Haven Road determined the victim and Jones got into an argument before the stabbing,” Lexington Sheriff Jay Koon said in the news release.

Koon said the victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.

Jones fled from the scene but was ultimately apprehended. He’s being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, according to the release.
