Manhunt underway for four inmates who escaped from a South Carolina jail, SLED says
A search is underway for four inmates who escaped from a jail Tuesday morning, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
The men were being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center, SLED said in a news release.
Emanuel Robson Planco, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod and De’Shawn Malik Fox are the inmates who escaped, according to the release.
Information about how they escaped was not available.
SLED said it’s assisting the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office in the search for the men who are wanted for escape and other charges.
Fox was arrested May 17 on third-degree assault & battery by mob charge, and was being held in the jail after his bond was set at $5,000, Chesterfield County court records show.
Information about why Bennett, McLeod and Planco were being held at the jail was not available, but both Bennett and McLeod have been arrested multiple times in the past dozen years, according to court records.
Anyone who sees the escaped inmates is warned not to approach them, according to SLED. Instead, they are asked to call 911. If someone has information on the escaped inmates’ whereabouts, they’re asked to call the sheriff’s office at 843-287-0235.
