5 South Carolinians charged in connection with teen’s murder at GA homecoming after-party

Five young men from the South Carolina Upstate have been charged with murder after a homecoming after-party in Georgia turned fatal last month.

Bry’shun Treviyus O’Brien Jordan, 15, died after a shooting at the party at a nightclub on Oct. 12 in Elbert County, Georgia, according to local reports, not far from Athens. Seven other people were injured, four by gunfire.

This week, four additional men from Anderson were arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in connection to the killing.

Destanne Mathis, 20, and Desmond Latimer, 18, were charged with murder, party to a crime and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Aanidras Parks, 18, and Jerimiyah Hughes, 19, were charged with murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Jarquavious Demetriun Scott, 18, of Anderson had already been charged with murder, four counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Those charged are being held at the Elbert County Jail, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.
