One man charged, three more sought in assault during KKK rally
Columbia police charged a 22-year-old man with damaging a pickup truck parked on Assembly Street during competing rallies on the South Carolina State House grounds July 18.
Eddien Andre Patterson was one of four men sought in the attack, said Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook. He was charged with breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature.
Patterson and three other unidentified men are accused of “throwing rocks and pieces of metal at a male victim’s truck,” doing thousands of dollars in damage, the victim told police. The victim was also injured, Holbrook said.
Patterson was being held on $27,130 bond for earlier charges of 2nd degree assault and battery by mob and 3rd degree assault and battery.
Holbrook said police are still asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three other suspects in the July 18 attack.
Citizens with information regarding the investigation or other acts of violence from July 18, 2015 are encouraged to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
