Woman shot outside of fast food restaurant on Harbison Boulevard, Columbia police say

There’s a large law enforcement presence in a popular dining and shopping district which was temporarily blocked Thursday morning after a woman was shot outside of a fast food restaurant, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Shortly before 10 a.m., officers said they responded to an emergency call about gunfire at the Bojangles restaurant at 151 Harbison Boulevard. That’s in the area between St. Andrews Road and Bower Parkway.

The parking lot has been blocked by officers, who are interviewing people at the scene and are reviewing surveillance video, and the 100 block of Harbison Boulevard was temporarily closed, according to police. At about 12:15 p.m., police reported that the road had been reopened.

An adult female was injured and taken to an area hospital, police told The State. Further information on her condition was not available.

No other injuries have been reported by police, who said there is limited information at this time.

There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a motive for the shooting was not available, but police said they believe the gunfire stemmed from an on-going dispute between two groups.

No arrests have been reported by police, who are continuing to investigate the shooting, which they called “isolated.”

A spokesperson for Lexington-Richland 5 told The State that no district schools in the area were placed on any security protocol.

More than 30,000 cars per day travel down Harbison Boulevard, according to South Carolina Department of Transportation traffic data.
