Fire in Lexington neighborhood injures two firefighters, officials say. Here’s what we know

Following a fire that broke out Friday afternoon, two firefighters were transported to an area hospital after sustaining minor injuries, according to a Lexington County Facebook post.

The fire began at Lexington Villas, near the 1300 building of Laryn Lane, at around 2 p.m. Multiple first responders, including the Lexington County Fire Service, police and EMS, were dispatched to a structure fire that threatened surrounding residential units, the post said. The fire was eventually extinguished, leaving around $200,000, according to Lexington County spokesperson Vanessa Diaz.

Two firefighters from the Lexington County Fire Service are being treated at an area hospital for minor injuries. They are expected to fully recover, according to Diaz.

Investigators are continuing to determine the cause of the fire, the post said.
