Sumter County man charged with molesting 9-year-old

A Dalzell, SC, man was charged Thursday with criminal sexual conduct toward a 9-year-old girl after the girl’s grandmother reported the alleged behavior to authorities.

Terrance Singleton, 33, faces 2 charges of criminal sexual conduct toward a minor, 3rd degree, committed on February 14 or 15, 2015, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The girl’s grandmother said the child told her that Singleton ‘has been fondling her when she goes to his house [sic] stay the weekends,” the May 2015 incident report stated.

Singleton was being held at the Sumter-Lee Detention Center Thursday afternoon.
