North man questioned in stabbing death of girlfriend

A North man is expected to be formally charged on Friday, after he called the sheriff’s department Thursday and said he “killed his girlfriend and left her body in the woods,” sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a news release.

Malcolm Williams, 24, was taken into custody Thursday morning after deputies found the body of a woman who had been stabbed multiple times about 200 yards off a dirt road about a mile from Williams’ Delroy Road house.

The woman was identified as Lateefah S. Williams (not thought to be a relation), 21, of Wagener, SC.

In July, 2014, Lateefah Williams asked for a sheriff’s department escort so that she could pick up some of her belongings from Malcolm Williams’ house after the two had argued.

At the time of his questioning on Thursday, Williams was out on bond after allegedly stabbing a relative on January 30, 2015.

Williams told deputies at the time that he stabbed his cousin in the chest after the two had been drinking alcohol and got into an argument over food, the incident report stated. The cousin was driven by relatives to Lexington County where emergency services transported him to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

Williams was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, Ravenell said.

Mindy Lucas contributed to this report.
