A man who was involved in a August shooting is wanted for attempted murder, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies are looking for Marcus D’Edgrick Gibbs, 26, following a shooting on Aug. 5, where they say Gibbs attempted to kill his ex-girlfriend at Palmetto Garden apartments at the 100 block of O’Neil Court, according to the news release.

Shortly before midnight on Aug. 5, deputies responded to the apartment complex after receiving calls of shots fired. Upon arriving, deputies discovered one victim who’d sustained multiple gunshot wounds, the release said.

Through their investigation, deputies determined that Gibbs fled the scene after entering his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and shooting her multiple times, according to the release. The victim was transported to an area hospital. Her current condition is unclear.

Gibbs, who deputies say is from Winnsboro, was last seen in Greenville County, and is believed to be aided by a network of family and friends, the release said.

Anyone with information as to Gibbs’ whereabouts is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at (803) 576-3000.
