West Columbia police looking for suspect in credit union robbery
The West Columbia Police Department is asking for the community’s help in locating a suspect that robbed the South Carolina Federal Credit Union, at 109 N. 12th in West Columbia just before noon on Friday, officials say.
A suspect entered the bank at 11:45 a.m. and told the teller to empty a cash drawer, Chief Dennis Tyndall said in a statement released Friday. The suspect did not present a weapon at the time of the robbery. In addition, it is believed that he was unable to take any money from the bank, Tyndall said.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighing 160 to 180 pound. He is 25 to 30 years in age and was wearing a green shirt with white shorts, white ankle socks, green and white shoes and had a black and white sock on his right hand.
The suspect left on foot and is believed to have gotten into a white Ford SUV. The first three letters of the SUV’s license tag are possibly LAR, Tyndall said.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the West Columbia Police Department at (803) 794-0721 or Crimestoppers at (888) CRIME-SC.
