Man dies in shooting at Columbia apartment complex on New Year’s Eve

A 33-year-old Columbia man died from a shooting Tuesday in an apartment complex near the Broad River.

Columbia Police responded to the Riverside Apartments shortly before 10:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve and found one man unresponsive and another man wounded with a non-life threatening gunshot injury.

The coroner’s office said Lenny W. Corley, of Columbia, died in the shooting.

“We will continue working with the Columbia Police Department to fully investigate this shooting,” Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said.

The apartment complex is at 3245 Lucius Road near the Broad River.

Columbia Police asked for anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CRIME-SC.
