Man with violent criminal history engages in sexual conduct with a minor, sheriff says

A man out on probation is facing additional charges for sexually engaging with a minor, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Johnny Rios, 21, was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release.

Deputies were alerted last month that Rios was sexually involved with a minor under 16. Following an investigation, the department executed an arrest and search warrant at Rios’ residence, where Rios’ was taken into custody without incident, the release said.

He was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and has a first appearance scheduled for March 28, according to court records.
