Minor is charged as an adult, facing murder charge and more, South Carolina cops say
A teenager was charged with murder and other crimes following an incident in South Carolina over the weekend, according to the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to murder, 17-year-old Zachary Jones was charged with desecration of human remains and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, the sheriff’s office said Monday in a news release.
Although he’s a minor, Jones was charged as an adult, according to the release.
It was early Saturday morning when deputies responded to a call in the northern part of Saluda County, the sheriff’s office said. Specific information about when and where the deputies went was not available.
Based on evidence discovered by the deputies, it was determined a homicide occurred and Jones was arrested, according to the release.
The Saluda County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified a victim.
Despite Jones’ arrest, the sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the homicide.
