A Lexington County teacher performed oral sex on a minor after giving the child alcohol, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

On Wednesday, Luther Jackson Truluck, 30, was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a SLED news release said. The charges stem from a Jan. 1 incident when Truluck picked up a 15-year-old from a nearby neighborhood and took them to his house, an arrest warrant said.

At Truluck’s residence, authorities say the man provided the minor with alcohol before performing oral sex on the teen. The juvenile revealed what happened during a forensic interview with the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center, the release said.

The investigation was spurred by a runaway report involving the minor received by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, who, in turn, requested that SLED investigate.

A prior encounter, investigators say, occurred when Truluck picked up the juvenile from an area high school, the release said.

Ultimately, Truluck was identified during a photo lineup after trying to conceal his identity by using a different name to contact the minor on the social media platform Snapchat, according to the release.

Truluck, who worked at Beechwood Middle School in the Lexington One School District, was placed on administrative leave following the allegations, according to the district.

“As soon as SLED released its media statement this morning, our school principal notified Beechwood Middle School employees and parents to ensure they heard this news from us,” the district said in a statement. “We understand that this news is concerning, and we are committed to keeping our school community informed while also respecting the legal process. Our focus remains on minimizing any disruptions to the school day and maintaining a positive, nurturing environment for our students.”

Truluck was booked in the Lexington County Detention Center. It’s unclear from court records whether he’s received and/or posted bond.
