‘Heinous crime’ investigated after 20-year-old’s body found on road, SC cops say
A South Carolina man’s body was recently found on a Midlands road, and there’s a search for his killer, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
O’Brian Grant, a 20-year-old Santee resident, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was discovered Saturday, said Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle.
Grant was a shooting victim, according to the sheriff’s office.
A person saw Grant lying on Legendary Drive and called 911 at about 10:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. That’s in Orangeburg, near Exit 149 on Interstate 26.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a possible motive for the shooting was not available.
No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for this week, Fogle said.
“This is a heinous crime against this young man,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a news release. “If you have any knowledge or information ... we are urging you to please call us.”

The sheriff’s office has not indicated that the shooting deaths are related.
