SC man threatens to get money from churches after salary was withheld, cops say
A South Carolina man was arrested Sunday following recent social media posts that caused panic, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies arrested Triston Wesley for a violation of the conditions of his probation, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Wesley was the subject of social media posts after he made statements about going to churches to get money from them following his disagreement with government over the garnishment of his wages, the sheriff’s office said.
Information about why Wesley’s salary was being withheld was not available.
At around 11:15 a.m., Wesley was taken into custody by deputies for an outstanding warrant from the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole & Pardon Services, according to the release.
Wesley was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he will be held for further court proceedings, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office did not report that Wesley followed through on his statements to get money to compensate for having part of his salary withheld.
In the past 24 years, Wesley has been arrested more than a dozen times on multiple charges, Lee County court records show.
