Lexington County deputies investigate fatal shooting in West Columbia

Lexington County deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that broke out Sunday evening that left one man dead and another wounded, according to sheriff’s department officials.

Sheriff Jay Koon said the incident stemmed from a robbery that occurred earlier Sunday evening in the Rolling Meadows mobile home park in the 3900 block of Charleston Highway in West Columbia.

Koon said two suspects, described as black men, were driving a dark colored sedan when they approached two Hispanic men in the mobile home park. The suspects then opened fire on the victims, hitting them both. One victim died after receiving medical treatment, while the other victim sustained only minor injuries.

Koon asks that anyone with information regarding the shooting to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230, or Crimestoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
