Teenager killed in overnight shooting, South Carolina coroner says

A teenager was killed Monday night in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

Tra’sean White, an 18-year-old Wadmalaw Island resident, is the shooting victim, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said Tuesday in a news release.

At about 9 p.m. Monday, the coroner’s office was called to the scene of a shooting on Bowen Pier Drive in Hanahan, according to the release. That’s about 14 miles from Charleston.

No other injuries were reported.

Members of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and Hanahan Fire & EMS also responded to the shooting.

There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a possible motive for the shooting was not available.

No arrests have been reported, but the sheriff’s office did detain one person at the scene, according to WCIV.
