21-year-old South Carolina man stabbed to death, coroner says
A 21-year-old South Carolina man was killed over the weekend, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
Summerville resident Lucas Mortins was the homicide victim, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said in a news release.
At about 8 a.m. Sunday, the coroner’s office said it was notified that a victim, later identified as Mortins, had been taken to a Lowcountry hospital and died.
Mortins suffered fatal injuries in a stabbing, according to the release.
The stabbing happened at about 6:15 a.m. on Harbor Lake Drive in Goose Creek, the coroner’s office said. That’s about 18 miles from Charleston.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word about the person who attacked Mortins, or anyone else involved in the stabbing. Information about a possible motive for the stabbing was not available.
No arrests have been reported, but the death continues to be investigated by the coroner’s office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
