Search for men who were armed during a daytime burglary at SC home, sheriff says

A search is underway for two men after a South Carolina home was broken into Tuesday, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

“Two things about these subjects, they were reckless enough to break in during the middle of the day,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a news release. “Second, they were armed if someone got in their way.”

At about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to an alarm at a Homestead Road residence, according to the release. That’s in the Bowman area, not far from Exit 154 on Interstate 26.

Security camera footage showed two males forcing their way into the rear of the home after approaching from the backyard, the sheriff’s office said.

There was no word if anything was stolen from the home.

No injuries were reported.

One of the males was wearing all black clothing, white gloves and white Nike Air Jordan shoes, according to the release. The second male wore a camouflage hoodie and a black ski mask, the sheriff’s office said.

“Both of them were armed,” Ravenell said. “One had an extended magazine on his handgun.”

Anyone with information about the break-in, or the suspects, is asked to call the Orangeburg County Communications Center at 803-534-3550, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.

In the case of an emergency, always call 911.
