A now former North Charleston police officer was arrested Friday after using his patrol vehicle to block two people in before pointing his service pistol at one person and punching another in the face, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Larne Demarcio Green, 40, was charged with first degree domestic violence, two counts of kidnapping, misconduct in office and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person following an incident that occurred on May 19, according to a news release.

While in uniform and operating a marked North Charleston police cruiser, Green allegedly found his ex-girlfriend parked next to someone she was dating. The location was outside of his jurisdiction at the Regal Azalea Square movie theater in Summerville.

Green parked his cruiser behind the two vehicles and blocked them from leaving, before he approached the car his ex-girlfriend and the person she was dating were sitting in, according to a news release from SLED and a report by news station WCSC.

When Green reached the car, he blocked the doorway and prevented one person from exiting, the release said. It’s unclear whether that person was Green’s ex-girlfriend or the person she’s dating.

Once the person eventually was allowed to exit the vehicle, they returned to their car and attempted to leave. At that point, Green stepped behind his patrol car and pointed his service weapon at the vehicle, according to the release.

Green then lowered his weapon to his side and approached the car where one of the victims were seated. The victim stated that Green was being recorded, which prompted him to holster his weapon, the release said. At that point, one victim was permitted to leave.

Meanwhile, another victim, who remained in another car, was punched in the jaw by Green, according to the release.

Green was booked at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Berkely County.
