Richland County sheriff deputies are searching for a man following a shooting death on Broad River Road.

Deputies said Thursday they attempted to execute a “high-risk” warrant for Desmond Coleman in connection with a homicide that occurred at 2624 Broad River Road on Wednesday around 4 a.m., according to a news release. At the location, deputies located a man who had been shot multiple times and pronounced dead on scene Wednesday, officials said.

Later that day, a heavy police presence swarmed a residence in the Chadford Road area as deputies sought Coleman, a news release said. The car used in the homicide was towed from the residence, but Coleman remains at large, the release said.

The victim has not yet been identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

Sheriff investigators encourage anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
