Attorney General: Lone Star man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

COLUMBIA, SC A Lone Star man was taken into custody Wednesday by Calhoun County deputies along with a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and is facing 41 counts on charges related to sexual exploitation of minors.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said Rodel Obrador Velina is facing 21 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 20 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges are felony offenses that carry up to a maximum of ten years imprisonment for each count.

Velina’s bond was set at $30,000, according to Wilson.

Wilson said computers and additional media were seized for forensic examination.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office, Wilson said.
