Sheriff: Deputies search for suspect involved in car thefts

Richland County sheriff’s deputies are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who is wanted for motor vehicle theft.

Sheriff Leon Lott said 20-year-old Christian Jayquan Zuniga allegedly broke into a victim’s vehicle located in the 8100 block of Bayfield Road at the Parklane Apartments and stole the face plate of the car’s stereo and tampered with the ignition switch before fleeing the scene.

Lott said investigators were able to identify Zuniga as a suspect by prints that were collected from the scene.

Zuniga may be responsible for additional motor vehicle thefts, Lott said.
