Memorial services set for fallen S.C. state trooper

Memorial services for a South Carolina state trooper killed in the line of duty have been set.

Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks, 30, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, after being critically injured during a traffic stop on I-26 on Sunday, Aug. 10.

A celebration of Ricks’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Shandon Baptist Church, according to Dunbar Funeral Home.

Additionally, a visitation is set for Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Dunbar Funeral Home’s Devine Street Chapel in Columba at 3926 Devine Street.

Ricks’ family has requested that interested donors may contribute through an online fundraiser instead of sending flowers. All of the proceeds will go to the family, according to Dunbar Funeral Home.
