Search for missing Columbia woman now like homicide investigation, SC police say

On the same day that the Columbia Police Department intensified its search for a missing woman it also said officers are now treating the incident in a manner similar to a homicide investigation.

Police expanded the search for Angela Fuller on Tuesday. Officers searched in various locations throughout Columbia in an effort to find the 56-year-old woman who was publicly reported missing by police Sept. 1.

Fuller was reported missing to law enforcement by a loved one who had not heard from the 56-year-old since Aug. 29, according to police. Fuller was last seen in the 3000 block of North Beltline Boulevard, police said. That’s in a part of Columbia between Two Notch Road and Forest Drive.

There was no word if Fuller was alone when she was last seen.

Chief of Police Skip Holbrook said officers searched more than 75 locations, including vacant buildings and lots, during their efforts Tuesday.

While police started Tuesday informing the public about the search, saying it wanted to see Fuller safely returned home, the investigation took a turn by the afternoon.

“Based on the amount of time that has passed since Ms. Fuller was last seen and evidence seized by investigators, we are investigating this incident in a manner similar to a homicide investigation,” police said on social media.

Information about any foul play that might have been involved in Fuller’s disappearance was not available.

Anyone with information about the missing woman is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, or submit an online tip.

In the case of an emergency, always call 911.
