Pound of meth along with fentanyl & guns seized as trio arrested, SC cops say

Three people were recently arrested on a busy South Carolina road where drugs and guns were seized, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said.

A tip led to the U.S. 321/Charleston Highway bust where about a pound of meth was discovered, the sheriff’s department said Wednesday in a news release.

“A tip came in that Sammie Green was going to be in the area on Sept. 16 with a large amount of methamphetamine,” Sheriff Jay Koon said in the release. “With help from Cayce police officers, investigators (with the Lexington County Multiagency Narcotics Enforcement Team) found Green in his vehicle, along with Wyatt Ryan James and Daidr’ea Torres.”

Koon said the law enforcement officers established probable cause to search the vehicle and James ran away, according to the release. James was caught moments later, the sheriff’s department said.

“That’s when we found out James discarded a bag containing just shy of one pound of meth,” Koon said. “Green and James both had guns on them.”

Green also had pills consistent with pressed fentanyl pills, which prompted a fentanyl possession charge against him, according to Koon.

“Green, James and Torres were charged with trafficking meth,” Koon said. “Green and James were also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.”

A $20,000 combined bond was set for Green on the fentanyl and weapons charges, but the 19-year-old was denied bond on the meth trafficking charge, jail records show. Green, an Orangeburg resident, remains locked up at the Lexington County Detention Center, where the 18-year-old James also continues to be held, according to jail records.

Like Green, James was denied bond on the meth trafficking charge, jail records show. Bond was set at $25,000 on the weapons charge and a $1,087.50 bond was set for a violation of a city ordinance for the Columbia resident, according to court records.

Torres was released after meeting the conditions of her bond, the sheriff’s department said. The 25-year-old Rembert resident’s bond on the meth trafficking charge was set at $75,000 and posted on Sept. 18, Lexington County court records show.
