Therapist at Sumter County school accused of ‘aggressively grabbing’ student

A therapist is accused of grabbing a student at a Sumter County private school.

Jada Yvette Gibbs, of Manning and is a therapist with Multi-Disciplinary Therapy, has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, the Sumter county Sheriff’s Office said.

Gibbs, 25, works with students with discipline issues.

On Oct. 28, Gibbs while at Wedgefield University 4 Kids allegedly aggressively grabbed a student by her upper left arm and by the back of the neck as she tried to redirect the child, the sheriff’s office said.

The incident left a dark purple bruise on the child’s neck in the shape of a hand, the sheriff’s office said.

Gibbs turned herself in at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and since been released on a $10,000 bond.
