Man shot, taken to hospital after early-morning Richland County shooting

One man was injured after an early morning shooting Friday northeast of Columbia.

Richland County sheriff’s deputies responded around 1 a.m. to reports of a suspicious person on the 10000 block of Two Notch Road, the department said in a release. At the scene, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and had the victim transported to a hospital for treatment.

The shooting occurred on a busy commercial stretch of Two Notch Road that includes shopping areas and fast-food restaurants, roughly a mile and a half northeast of Sesquicentennial State Park.

Deputies are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 803-576-3000 or submit a tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372).
