Grand opening of Columbia’s 2nd Trader Joe’s met with fanfare and long lines
Fans of Trader Joe’s took to social media, raving about it’s latest grand opening in Columbia.
The California-based grocery chain opened its second location inside the Harbison Center shopping complex Friday morning, and was immediately met with long lines teeming with excited patrons, according to several videos on TikTok.
When the new location — featuring a 9,200 square feet building — opened its doors at 9 a.m. at 275 Harbison Blvd., one video showed a line stretching the entirety of the shopping complex as the Irmo High School band played out front.
The video’s creator, Ashley Cosola, said the opening was “amazing.”
In another video by Amanda Rollision, throngs of shoppers can be seen perusing the new store, which is known for carrying unique products under the company’s brand.
The store, which features a holiday guide, offers distinctive items such as Egg Nog Greek Yogurt, Cinnamon Sugar Waffles, and Bourbon Vanilla Bean Syrup.
“Our buyers travel the world searching for products we think are exceptional and will find a following among our customers,” Trader Joe’s website states. “To earn a spot on our shelves, each product is submitted to a rigorous tasting panel process, in which every aspect of quality is investigated in context of the price we can offer.”
Friday’s opening also included a ribbon cutting and offered customers free bags, according to a video by Keshonta Shontel, who said the store has “everything.”
The new Harbison store follows a location at 4516 Forest Drive in Forest Acres, which opened in 2013.
