One dead, another injured after Upstate house fire, coroner says

One person is dead and another hospitalized following a Saturday morning house fire in the Upstate, according to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.

At around 11 a.m. Saturday, the coroner’s office responded to a residence at 107 Hillcrest Circle in Liberty, in reference to a fatality caused by a house fire, according to a news release.

While one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire, another was sent to an area hospital with injuries, the release said.

As of Saturday afternoon, the scene remains active and residents are encouraged to avoid the area due to an influx of emergency vehicle, according to the release.

The incident is being investigated by the coroner’s office along with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Fire Marshall’s Office and Pickens County Fire Service, the release said.
