Suspect stole electronics worth thousands. Here’s how SC police say he did it

A search is underway for a man who’s wanted after electronic goods worth thousands of dollars were stolen from a Lowe’s Home Improvement store, according to the Lexington Police Department.

On Wednesday, police sent out a news release where they asked for the public’s help with tracking down the suspected shoplifter.

On Nov. 6, 2025, the unidentified man left the Lowe’s at 5412 Sunset Blvd. with multiple electronic thermostats and Ring doorbells, which are marketed to help protect property, without paying for the items, according to the release. The man placed the electronics inside a mailbox that was inside a shopping cart and walked out of the store, police said.

From there, the man left the parking lot in a white GMC, but that SUV had a stolen license plate, according to the release.

The stolen merchandise is valued at $3,700, according to the release.

Anyone with information about the shoplifter is asked to call police at 803-358-7262, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
