Director with SC military training program arrested for assaulting cadet

The former director of the Youth Challenge Program at the home of the South Carolina National Guard, has been arrested for assaulting a cadet.

The state Office of the Inspector notified the Richland County Sheriff’s Department on Oct. 9, 2025, of a complaint against the McCrady Training Center for assault of a cadet, officials said. The center, which is housed within Fort Jackson,

Video surveillance of the incident showed Ronnie Scott, 56, following a cadet outside a building and throwing him to the ground, the sheriff’s department said.

Investigators arrested Scott on Jan. 9 and charged him with assault and third degree battery, officials said. He was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and released on bond.
