SC inmate charged for contraband obtained from an officer. How he got, used it?
Like an episode from a television crime drama, a Lexington County inmate was caught arranging a relationship between a corrections officer and woman on the outside toward getting the CO to provide the inmate with a cellphone, according to a release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
A review of jail video and phone calls revealed that inmate Keante Donaldson, 30, conspired with Skyy Glover, of Lexington, with the aim of facilitating an intimate relationship between Glover and James Johnson — a former corrections officer at the Lexington County Detention Center, according to arrest warrants.
In exchange for the set-up between Glover and Johnson, Donaldson asked Johnson to smuggle an iPhone 7 Plus, which Donaldson later received, along with a phone charger, buried in a food tray by Johnson, a warrant said.
Donaldson used the phone for social media and allowed other inmates to use the phone to communicate with women, according to a warrant.
He was charged with contraband and criminal conspiracy on Jan. 29, where he was transported back to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to complete a sentence on unrelated charges, a news release said.
In March 2024, Glover and Johnson were arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy. Johnson was additionally charged with misconduct in office.
In February 2025, Glover, 23, pleaded guilty and received a suspended five-year prison sentence under South Carolina’s Youth Offender Act in exchange for a year on probation, according to court records.
In October 2024, prosecutors dropped the criminal conspiracy charge against Johnson, 50. He pleaded guilty to misconduct in office and was sentenced to one day in jail and a $500 fine, according to court records.
