One dead after Lexington County crash, SC Highway Patrol says

A crash involving two pickup trucks in Lexington County on Friday left one person dead, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Michael James Turner, a 65-year-old Gilbert resident, died in what Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher called an accident.

The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Calks Ferry Road near Liberty Hill Road, where a motorist driving a 2018 Ford pickup truck was headed west while a 2025 Toyota pickup truck was traveling east, according to a news release.

The driver of the Ford crossed the center line and struck the Toyota before running off the road and hitting a tree and died as a result, the release said.

The motorist driving the Toyota did not sustain any injuries, according to the release.
