A man in Richland County was arrested after being caught with a high-end pickup truck, stolen out of Texas, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Shakil Naji Rameen Miller, 35, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle — value $10,000 or more on Feb. 13, according to a news release.

When deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department confronted Miller about the stolen 2023 Chevy Silverado High Country pickup, Miller claimed the truck belonged to him. Deputies, however, discovered that Miller tried to conceal the identity of the truck by covering up the VIN number below the windshield, according to an arrest warrant.

In fact, the Chevy — valued at $50,000 — had been reported stolen out of Webster, Texas, on Jan. 27, 2024, the warrant said.

Miller was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
