A Lexington County man is accused of stealing nearly $15,000 from a nursing home resident in Irmo, according to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

A Lexington man is in custody after authorities say he stole more than $14,000 from a vulnerable adult who resides in an Irmo nursing home.

Demetrias Antonio Roberts, 41, was arrested Thursday and charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult and breach of trust with fraudulent intent, valued at $10,000 or more, according to a news release from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

Investigators from the attorney general’s office found that, between Jul. 18, 2025 and Nov. 13, 2025, Roberts — while acting as the victim’s power of attorney — unlawfully siphoned $14,862 from the victim’s bank account, who’s classified as a vulnerable adult under South Carolina law and a resident of a nursing home in Irmo, according to the release.

Roberts used the funds for his own personal gain without aid to the victim, the release said.

If convicted, Roberts faces up to 15 years in prison. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center, according to the release.
