Woman fatally shot in Columbia. Police searching for suspects

A woman was shot and killed in Downtown Columbia Friday. Police are now searching for suspects.

The woman was found wounded at the 2000 block of Assembly Street at around 8:30 p.m., according to a social media post on X by the Columbia Police Department. The first responding officer rendered first aid to the victim who was later transported by EMS to an area hospital where she died, the post said.

Police are actively searching for suspects and encourage anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the Richland County Coroner’s Office, which is assisting police with the investigation, according to the post.
