Man found shot to death in parking lot at Lake Murray apartment
A man was found shot to death outside an apartment building near Lake Murray.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after the man’s body was found Monday morning in the parking lot of the apartment complex on the 2200 block of Lake Murray Boulevard, the department said in a media release.
The shooting victim was identified by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office as Raynard Brewington, 43. He was a resident at the apartment complex, the sheriff said.
“Mr. Brewington’s body was found near his apartment building before daylight early Monday morning,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a statement. “We responded to the location after receiving 911 calls from people who reported they heard what they said might be gunshots.”
The shooting location is on a busy stretch of road in a largely residential area, roughly a mile from the Lake Murray dam.
Sheriff’s investigators have spoken to those who called 911 and other residents of the apartment complex, according to the release, and deputies will continue to canvass neighbors and businesses in the area as their investigation continues.
