Investigators need new tips after Lexington County man missing for a year
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to look for a man who disappeared a year ago.
Investigators are hoping to find new leads in the disappearance of Drayton Lucas.
Lucas, then 24, was last seen leaving his family home on Whetstone Road in Swansea the morning of Feb. 8, 2025. Lucas was walking on foot and believed to be heading toward Orangeburg County, the sheriff’s department said at the time.
“We searched for Drayton by land and air on multiple occasions in the days right after his disappearance,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a press release marking more than a year since Lucas went missing. “Detectives have continued to try and find him over the past year.”
“This case hasn’t gone cold,” the sheriff said. “However, we’re hoping a renewed effort to get Drayton’s face and name out there again will prompt someone to come forward. We don’t need theories or guesses. We need actionable tips and verifiable info.”
Lucas is described as 5’10 and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who has seen Lucas, or has information about him, is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 803-785-2482, Midlands CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC (274-6372) or share an anonymous tip on the CrimeStoppers app.
