A South Carolina man was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase before smashing head-on into a police cruiser and later firing at deputies, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Brian Joseph Stoltie, 45, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes and failure to stop for blue lights Monday, following a pursuit by deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office on March 26, 2025, according to a news release.

Stoltie fled from deputies last March as they attempted to conduct a traffic stop to execute an arrest warrant against Stoltie, a warrant said.

Amid the pursuit, Stoltie collided head-on with a deputy’s patrol vehicle before disabling his 2004 Cadillac Escalade by crashing into a fence, according to a warrant.

As he began fleeing on foot, Stoltie began firing at deputies, who then returned fire, striking Stoltie in the back, the warrant said. He was apprehended shortly thereafter on Brookhaven Drive where deputies located a black Glock 48 handgun lying next to him, according to the warrant.

Stoltie was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center before being transferred to the Greenville County Detention Center on unrelated charges, the release said.
