Half a pound of fentanyl seized during traffic stop, South Carolina sheriff says

A Wednesday morning traffic stop in South Carolina led to a drug bust and a man was arrested, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Angelo Deon Stradford, a 47-year-old Lugoff resident, was charged with trafficking fentanyl, the Camden Police Department said.

Kershaw County deputies, along with members of the Camden Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division made the joint traffic stop, according to the release.

The sheriff’s office credited the work of K-9 officer Sam, who alerted his handler Sgt. John Carter about the presence of the drugs, the sheriff’s office said. More than half a pound of fentanyl was seized, according to the release.

Stradford is being held in the Kershaw County Detention Center while waiting for a bond hearing, jail records show.

“Camden Police Chief Jack Rushing and I are always pleased to see our units working together to get this poison off our streets,” said Sheriff Lee Boan said in the release. “Successful joint operations like this happen all the time, and we will continue teaming up against drug dealers to keep our residents safe.”
