Egg hunts and Easter brunch won’t have to come with a parking tab this year because the City of Columbia is opening up free parking across select city-operated spaces for Easter weekend.

In an aim to make it easier for residents and visitors to get downtown without circling the block — or feeding a meter, the city announced Wednesday that free parking will be available across all of its parking decks between 6 p.m. on April 2, through 2 a.m. April 6, in observance of the Easter holiday, according to a news release.

On-street parking will also be complimentary over the Easter weekend, although restrictions will remain in place in the Five Points and Bull Street districts on April 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the release said.

Amid the freebie, “the city encourages residents and visitors to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy Columbia’s local businesses, dining, and entertainment throughout the weekend,” the release said.

More information about parking around the city can be found here.
