One person injured in Midlands shooting. Investigation underway, sheriff says

A man was injured and airlifted to an area hospital after being shot, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a residence on East Stevens Drive in the Town of Kershaw, according to a news release. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a 28-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.

As an active investigation is underway, the condition of the victim is unknown, a release said.

Although no arrests have been made and no suspects identified, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said his investigators have “promising information.”

“We believe there were witnesses to this shooting, and I encourage anyone with information about this case to contact us immediately,” Faile said in the release.
