Woman found with minors after cars from lot were stolen and damaged, SC cops say
A South Carolina woman was recently arrested for stealing and damaging cars at a used car lot, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
Da’Niyah Shanesse Fulks, a 20-year-old Lexington resident, was charged with three counts of grand larceny, two counts of breaking into motor vehicles, and one count each of malicious injury to real property and criminal conspiracy, the sheriff’s department said Monday in a news release.
“We received a report about a suspicious vehicle near a dealership and body shop in the 2500 block of South Lake Drive early (in the) morning (of April 2),” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in the release. “When a deputy got there, he noticed a car with significant front end damage.”
The deputy was able to connect the car back to the dealership during his investigation, according to the release.
“He determined the car reported as suspicious was driven through a gate at the dealership,” Koon said. “He eventually found four other cars with damage indicating someone had tried to steal them.”
While the deputy was investigating the crimes at the dealership, other deputies pulled over a car that had been reported stolen from the same dealership, the sheriff’s department said.
“Fulks was in that car, along with four minors,” Koon said. “She has also been charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”
Deputies arrested Fulks at the traffic stop and she was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center, according to the release. Her bond was set at $140,000 on the combined charges, and Fulks remains behind bars, jail records show.
Fulks is scheduled to return to court on May 14, Lexington County judicial records show.
After taking the minors into custody during the traffic stop, deputies transported them to a South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice facility, the sheriff’s department said.
