A former deputy was arrested after an investigation revealed he’d shared sexually explicit material with a confidential informant, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Derek Pace, 46, was charged with misconduct in office on Friday, after sharing sexually explicit text messages, photos and videos with an informant his was assigned to handle at the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, according to an arrest warrant.

The former deputy is accused of neglecting his duties as a sworn law enforcement officer during the accused conduct, which occurred between May 11, 2023, and December 31, 2023, the warrant said.

He was booked into the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, according to a news release.
