SC woman arrested in alleged Medicaid timesheet scheme, attorney general says
A Columbia woman was arrested for Medicaid fraud, according to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Elisha K. Zimmerman, 35, was charged Tuesday with forgery, value less than $10,000 and medical assistance provider fraud after signing and presenting false timesheets, allowing services to be billed to the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, according to a news release.
Prosecutors say that between April 4, 2025 and Nov. 10, 2025, Zimmerman submitted timesheets to her employer, Bright Start, claiming she provided in-home support services to a Medicaid beneficiary when she had not.
Under South Carolina law, forgery involving $10,000 or less is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison or a fine at a judge’s discretion. Medical assistance provider fraud is classified as a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000, the attorney general’s office said.
Zimmerman was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
