Greenville man caught with more than 100 pounds of cocaine sentenced to 12 years
Gerald Larson, 52, has been sentenced to nearly 12 and a half years in federal prison after being caught with 58 kilograms of cocaine. Larson was charged with possession with intent to distribute, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The Greenville man was stopped by North Carolina Highway Patrol in October 2024 after leaving his residence in Greer, S.C. Larson’s vehicle was searched after a K-9 alerted officers to the scent of drugs.
Inside was a suitcase containing 15 kilograms of cocaine, leading Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations to obtain a search warrant for Larson’s residence.
Authorities located over $419,000 and an additional 43 kilograms of cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The seizure totaled 58 kilograms — roughly 128 pounds.
Larson had a number of prior state convictions for cocaine trafficking and firearms related charges out of California, the U.S. Attorneys Office said.
United States District Judge Timothy M. Cain sentenced Larson to 151 months in federal prison. The 12-year sentence will be followed by five years of court-ordered supervision.
There is no parole in federal crimes.
